With permission, I would like to share Jackie's successful vbac (vaginal birth after cesarean) story through the eyes of the doula! Sometimes you come across a family and you wonder why it took you so long to meet. Come to find out, Jackie and Jeff have been sitting a few rows from us at Church every Sunday...go figure, lol. I just adore them- so spunky and full of life. Love it!

I am so incredibly proud and happy of the two. This lil mama called me at 6am and thought she *may* be in labor. I love those courtesy calls! Shortly after the initial phone call, she called a second time for me to come over. By the time I got to her house, contractions were 2-3 mins apart!!! She was so cool, calm and collected- hmmm I wonder if she's really in labor? I asked if contractions were intense to which responded, "Yes!" We decided to make trek across the causeway (thank you Jeff for getting us there safely!). Between contractions and dealing with the bumps on the causeway, Jackie smiled told me she desired for her baby to be born on this day- it was a special day- the same day as her grandma had passed a few years ago. Yup, this is going to be a birth for the books! She continued to labor peacefully as contractions grew closer and closer. We finally arrived to the hospital and the valet dude wanted to get her a wheel chair- she insisted on walking because she is hard core like that 💪. By the time we were all situated in the room she was 8cm dilated! We felt like we won the lottery! This doula even shed a tear, lol! Surely this mama will be pushing a baby out in the next 2 hours...or not? Although Jackie was 10cm within 2 hours, baby boy was NOT ready to come down and out. Dad remained encouraging and positive for mama! It can be disheartening after sitting at 10cms for hours just waiting on that urge to push but Jackie was a trooper. We all knew she could do it!!! 7 hours later, mama bear started pushing. That's right 7 hours at 10cm!!! She pushed out a beautiful healthy 8lb13oz baby boy. It was a healing birth, for sure. She looked at me with her tear filled eyes and said, "I did it!" Yes, you did it! You were made to do it and I knew you could. Congrats Jackie and Jeff on your successful unmedicated vaginal delivery after cesarean and your new little bundle. Love you guys!
